How does Acomplia fit into an overall weight loss program

Why do people put on weight?

In the days before supermarkets were invented, it was possible for food to run short. Knowing that there may be periods of relative famine, the body stores fat against the days when there may not be enough food to eat. If there are no famines, the body just keeps on growing.

How do you lose weight?

The answer is easy to give. You lose weight when your body burns more calories than it eats. A calorie is a unit of food energy. To supply the energy for your heart to beat and your lungs to breathe, the body must either consume food or use stored energy. The body stores energy as fat. So, in the famine situation, you survive by burning off the fat to supply the energy you need.

To lose weight, you must therefore do two things in combination:

  • eat less unhealthy food; and
  • raise your activity level to use more energy.

You must take in a reduced number of calories every day, and use more energy than that food represents.

Why do diets fail?

People enjoy eating and, truth be told, many see no danger in eating as much as they want. This makes it very difficult to motivate people to stick to a diet. What makes it even harder is that many people have never experienced real hunger. All their lives as children and adults, they have known only plenty. When they do start a real diet, they confront the unknown — hunger pangs. Many find this discomfort unbearable and immediately start eating again. That is where acomplia comes in so useful. It damps down the pleasure in eating and makes it easier for dieters to eat less. Without this help, many give up the diet within a week.

What kind of diet works best?

First, a simple truth — fad diets are a waste of time. People who try to starve themselves or eat only a weak cabbage soup are risking malnutrition and damage to their health. Any diet that suggests you eat less than 1,200 calories a day is dangerous. That said, there is no “right” answer. All the research shows that calorie-reduced, low-fat, and high-protein diets all perform equally as well. The only constants are that you must eat smaller portions of lean meat with plenty of fibre. Simply use one of the many calorie-controlled diet planners to produce a varied menu. Repetition makes for boredom and makes it harder for you to keep up your motivation.

What kind of exercise works best?

Again there is no “right” answer. The only requirement is that you should regularly do something vigorous to lift your heart rate over a period of time. This can be walking quickly for half an hour, digging a vegetable path in the yard, or playing a sport. All you have to do is burn calories in as enjoyable a way as possible.
